Automation projects at Tshwane Metro Council

The contract with the Tshwane Metropolitan Council for automation packages for five pump stations was one of the longest ongoing contracts on AGE's order book.

Beginning in mid 1995 whilst the company was operating as AEG Construction, the scope of work was to supply an automation system to 5 pump stations within the greater Tshwane Metropole.

The first was completed at the Fountains station, followed by Garsfontein, Elardus Park, Klapperkop and finally Mooikloof over a period of four-and-a-half years.

The project was run out of the Metro's Department of Water Environment and executed as five separate contracts.

AGE's brief was to provide the project management, PLC Engineering using Modicon Compact and Micro PLC's, the Equipment Supply, Installation and Commissioning. What started out as first-time business for AGE developed into a long-term relationship and resulted in repeat business.

Rand Water AMR Project

AGE was contracted for a very prestigious project, which involves a specialised remote meter reading system for 600 Rand Water sites. This project brings valuable insights into Operations of Rand Water’s bulk water distribution network.

AGE’s involvement in this project includes everything from the measurement of the field right up to End User Integration. The project has made considerable progress, which we gladly share with you.

Before work could commence, a significant amount of time was utilized to prove that the system designed and developed by AGE would work in the field. After this was successfully demonstrated the rollout phase of the 600 sites began.

“Upon engaging the western region (Rustenburg district) the client was impressed with the high standard of the site crew’s approach to safety and seamlessness of each installation.

Considering the scale and magnitude of this endeavor, the value this development brings to the utility is a first for Africa.
